Hiking from Bologna without a car - by train and trail

Porretta Terme is connected by train to Bologna and Pistoia, making it a perfect starting point for hiking in the Apennines without a car.

From Porretta Terme train station, follow the signs for CAI trail 107 (Marconiano) towards Porretta Vecchia.
The route first follows a small road and then becomes a forest trail.

Walking time from the station to Cà Gennara is about 50 minutes, always following the well-marked CAI 107 trail.

This is a great option for a weekend hiking trip from Bologna, staying in the mountains and starting hikes directly from the house, similar to a small mountain lodge.

Bus from the station

There is also a bus from Porretta Terme station (line 787), stop Chiacchiere, about 5 minutes on foot from the house.

For bus timetables, you can check public transport apps or contact us directly and we will help you plan the route.
