B&B in the Bologna Apennines, surrounded by forest and hiking trails

Cà Gennara is located in the Bologna Apennines, just a few minutes from Porretta Terme and the mountains of the Corno alle Scale.

Our traditional farmhouse is surrounded by forests and nature, with hiking trails starting directly from the front door.

A life choice in the Bologna Apennines

We are Marta and Daniele.

A few years ago we left the busy area of Brianza to move here, to the Bologna Apennines near Porretta Terme, looking for a simpler life closer to nature.

Cà Gennara has become our home.
We live here every day, taking care of the vegetable garden, the orchard and our small farm animals.

Hosting guests started almost by chance.
Today our mountain B&B and holiday apartments in the small village of Castelluccio are a natural way to share this place with people looking for a few peaceful days among forests and hiking trails.

A traditional 19-th century stone farmhouse

Cà Gennara is a traditional 19th-century stone farmhouse located on the edge of the small village of Capugnano, near Porretta Terme in the Bologna Apennines.

Here the houses end and the forest begins: chestnut woods, mountain trails and ridges overlooking the valley.

In the past it was a simple rural house, probably used as a resting place for people crossing the Apennines on foot.

Today it welcomes guests looking for nature, silence and fresh mountain air.

EXPERIENCES STARTING FROM THE FRONT DOOR

CAI Hiking Trails

The CAI 107 trail (also known as the Marconiano trail) starts just outside the house.
An easy circular route suitable for everyone, through forests, chestnut woods and open views over the Bologna Apennines.

Chestnut Woods and Ancient Drying Houses

Just a few minutes on foot you can reach traditional chestnut groves and old stone drying houses.

These buildings are still used today to produce chestnut flour, one of the oldest food traditions of the Apennines.

Mountain Streams and Wild Nature

A short walk downhill leads to the Rio Maggiore, a small mountain stream with natural pools and little waterfalls where you can cool off in crystal-clear water.

Tibetan Goats

Our Tibetan goats live freely in the meadows around the house. They are also our natural lawn mowers.

Vegetable Garden and Orchard

We grow fruit and vegetables following the rhythm of the seasons. Whenever possible, they end up directly on the breakfast table.

Our chickens roam freely in the fields around the house. Fresh eggs arrive on the breakfast table every morning.
